Tullamore Farms

Who We Are

Tullamore Farms is a small, family-run enterprise dedicated to providing the Delaware Valley with the finest ethically and sustainably raised food products while focusing on responsible, progressive stewardship of land and livestock. We strive to rekindle the harmonious connection between farmer, animal, and customer.

Owner-operators Jeanmarie and Caitlin commit to produce healthy, high quality foods by incorporating modern science with traditional farming methods.

Why Grass-fed?

Picture
You are what you eat and so is your food. Grass, not corn or soybeans, is the natural food for ruminant animals such as cows. Grass fed and finished cattle experience drastically improved digestive health and do not need to be regularly given antibiotics such as on large commercial feedlots. Grass-fed beef is leaner, richer in Omega Fatty Acids, and some say it even tastes “beefier”. Grass-finished cattle take longer to mature, but it’s worth the wait for healthier, happier animals and healthier, tastier beef. The animals feed off ample, sunny pastures, while depositing natural fertilizer, ensuring that responsible grazing techniques will be successful for many years to come. Instead of depleting land to maximize profits and output, rotational grazing improves the land for the crops and animals of the future.Chemicals and pesticides are not used on our pastures; we use multi-species grazing and mowing for weed/insect management.  The forages we produce on our farm are non-GMO selected.

What is Pastured Poultry?

Just as cattle are rotated through different pastures for grazing, Tullamore’s chickens move around too. Insects gather and reproduce in the fields after the cows deposit nutrient-rich manure.  These bugs and larvae provide a high-protein feast for the birds. Chickens eat what they love and the population of pests is reduced.

The result is more flavorful eggs and poultry and healthy birds that aren’t always “cooped up."

Jeanmarie Mitchell
Jeanmarie Mitchell, owner and manager of Tullamore Farms for 10 years, has cared for creatures and community with integrity and compassion. After working with Tullamore's horse boarding business and hay operation, she shifted her focus to transforming the farm into a sustainable operation by raising grass-fed cattle and improving the quality of soil and land.

Caitlin Solano
Her daughter, Caitlin, was raised at Tullamore and works to help forge a future while preserving the legacy of her family’s historic farm. She has been devoted to diversifying the farm by finding new opportunities to expand the enterprise. Starting with a flock of 25 laying hens, Caitlin hopes to enrich the farm's ecosystem with a wider range of livestock to graze the pastures.
